The doctor visits become a lot more frequent and I was going every Friday at 11am. I actually loved going to the doctor because I got to hear the heartbeat, got to see how much I had progressed and it really got us excited about the BIG DAY!
All the doctor visits went great! By my last one I had gained 26 pounds, baby's heart rate was a steady 150-160bpm, my blood pressure consisted of 100/58, no swelling and felt great with lots of energy!! On week 37 I had my cervix checked to see if I was dilated and I was not so I was sent home with the orders to be more active and do more walking. So I did and it worked because on week 38 I was 2cm dilated and partially effaced. Doctor Tallent and I then talked about being induced. Oh, besides the good news about being dilated, Jon came with me to this appointment which was his first time going to the "girl" doctor. He was a little anxious about what was going to go on but he did great! SO we talked to Dr. Tallent about being induced and decided to go ahead with it the following Wednesday. We left the doctor with orders to relax, eat a good meal, enjoy our "last" weekend together as a family of 2 and to come back on Tuesday to get our hospital stay booked. We could not have been more excited!! A lot of people asked us why we decided to be induced and here is why: the baby was going to be too big if I was to have him/her naturally, my body was probably not going to have the baby any time soon because he/she was so tight up in there so we decided to go for it! Honestly it was the BEST decision ever and I would encourage people to do it! As many of you know, I am a big planner so knowing that we were going to have the baby on a certain day was music to my ears! My family could plan to come up from Daphne and be with us which was a huge blessing!
After we left the doctors office we called our family and headed home to relax and enjoy the weekend together!
Here I am at 38 weeks:
